Fire rated and bullet resistant glazing for banking
The only sector that routinely needs a fire rating and a ballistic rating in the same wall — and usually gets them from two suppliers who meet at a junction nobody has tested.

What changes in Banking and finance

Two ratings in one envelope, and the junction between them
A branch has a teller line that has to stop a round, a cash-handling room that has to stop a fire, and a wall where those two requirements meet. That meeting point is the part nobody tests. A ballistic screen from one manufacturer butting into a fire screen from another produces a joint detailed on site, warranted by neither, and asked about by every insurer.
Because FT-PD and BR-Shield are the same cold-rolled steel system, that junction is inside one system: one profile family, one set of connectors, one fabricator, one submittal. It is the clearest commercial case for a single-platform supplier anywhere on this site, and it is the reason this sector is worth building around.
Over-tested, and stated as an outcome
EN 1063 defines BR6 as 7.62 × 51 mm at 820 to 840 metres per second. At the NFSU Ballistic Research Centre, BR-Shield was shot at 846 to 860 — above the band the standard sets, on every one of six shots — and none of them perforated it. TBRL Chandigarh, a DRDO laboratory, ran six more at the top of the band with the same result.
Both reports record the classification as partial compliance, so this site says “tested to” and never “certified”. That is the accurate word rather than a cautious one, and on a security specification the accurate word is the one an insurer and a security consultant will both accept.
The frame and the glass are one system
A bullet resistant pane in a frame that lets it out of the opening is a system that passed a glass test and failed as an assembly. Firetec makes the steel, and the laminate and the profile that retains it are specified together — BR6 and FB6 systems with glass, by Firetec.
Steel systems made by Firetec. The frame is specified together with the glass it holds, rather than assembled from whatever is available — which on a rated assembly is the difference between two components that passed and one that works.

What this sector specifies
Classifications are what the test reports record. Where older marketing material runs ahead of a report, this site prints the report.

BR-Shield
Bullet Resistant Systems
Cold-rolled steel systems with glass in the system, as door systems, fixed partitions and cap curtain wall. Tested to EN 1063 BR6 and EN 1522 FB6 - partial compliance.

FT-PD
Fire Rated Doors & Partitions
Steel framing for building entrances, lift lobbies, server rooms and corridors. A two-hour fire rating - 120 minutes integrity and 120 minutes radiation control - classified E120 / EI30 / EW120.

What is behind the numbers on this page
Four laboratories, described in prose on the system pages. No report, certificate or scan is reproduced anywhere on this site.
Codes and compliance
Public sector bank and PSU work is specified against the National Building Code, which Firetec’s systems are developed against.
| National Building Code | Developed against NBC norms | Firetec |
|---|---|---|
| Where the testing was done | Two NABL accredited laboratories covered by ILAC for the fire tests, and TBRL Chandigarh (DRDO) and NFSU Gandhinagar for the ballistic trials | Test reports |
